What is needed?
- For optimal stability and driving comfort, rear-wheel drive with dual-tyre wheels on the rear axle is essential. This not only ensures excellent handling but also better traction in wet or wintery conditions.
- For most vehicle brands, this concerns the heavier 4- to 5-ton N1 variants, which are downgraded to a permissible maximum weight of 3,500 kg from factory.
- Because you are driving a vehicle combination weighing more than 3,500 kg, you are legally required to drive with a tachograph and a valid driver card.
- The front axle of a light commercial vehicle, including trucks, is a critical point when it comes to weight distribution. In practice, partial loads are often placed against the front of the cargo box. This shifts the weight forward, which can overload the front axle and thus increase the risk of fines.
- A heavier front axle significantly reduces this risk. Even a difference of a few hundred kilos in axle load can make the difference between a safe load and a violation.
- For a professional conversion it is important that the vehicle is equipped with the correct connections.
- The vehicle must always have a 13-pin socket for the power supply to the trailer.
- In addition, a bodybuilder connection (or connector) is required to properly perform our conversion work.
- The vehicle's wheelbase plays a crucial role in determining the maximum cargo box length. The longer the wheelbase, the more space available for transporting goods. Therefore, it's important to know in advance how much cargo space you need.
- A useful rule of thumb when configuring the BE-Combi 3500PLUS System:
- With a short wheelbase we usually build a box of approximately 4,700 mm
- With a long wheelbase, a box of approximately 5,200 mm is possible - The length of the 3500PLUS trailer is always tailored to the vehicle's chosen wheelbase. Therefore, it's essential to determine your required loading space beforehand, so we can work together to determine the best wheelbase.
